South Dakota Massage Renewal Is Open Through September 30
South Dakota's online renewal system is open, but licenses expire September 30; the October grace period does not allow practice on an expired license.
- Renew by September 30, 2026 to avoid an expired-license gap.
- Upload or retain proof of the applicable Board-approved CE; confirm whether the full eight hours or a prorated amount applies.
- Use the online process because the Board says paper renewals are no longer accepted.
- Do not practice during the October grace period until the license has actually been renewed and is active.

Official context
The South Dakota Board opened online massage renewal on August 1, 2026. Licenses expiring September 30, 2026 should be renewed during the regular August 1-to-September 30 period. The Board lists a $65 renewal fee and eight hours of Board-approved CE for therapists licensed before October 1, 2024, with prorated CE for specified later initial-license dates.
What this means
The online system remains available October 1 through October 30 for late renewal, but that is a grace period after expiration. The Board states that a therapist cannot work without an active license and that the license remains expired until the late renewal is completed. October 30 is therefore not the practice deadline for a license that expires September 30.
