King County Moves Proposed Pet-Business Code Review to October
King County now plans an October 2026 review of revised pet-business rules. Grooming, boarding, daycare, and fee changes remain draft proposals.

King County’s official project page now schedules Board of Health review and a vote for October 2026, replacing the previously reported September target. Public Health says it made additional edits after public comments and will present the revisions once finalized. The page still labels Titles 8 and 2 as proposed codes, separately from current codes; a planned vote is not adoption or an effective date.
What this means
Grooming, boarding, daycare, and other permitted pet businesses should monitor the revised text and actual Board agenda. Proposed topics include supervision, isolation and infection control, sanitation, staff training, facility conditions, permits, and fees. Continue complying with current permit conditions; do not pay draft fees or assume proposed requirements are enforceable. This is King County coverage, not a statewide Washington mandate.
