At the September 8, 2026 review, Public Health — Seattle & King County still described its pet-business code amendments as draft proposals. The agency plans to present revisions for Board of Health review and a vote in September 2026; that plan does not establish adoption or an effective date. This is an older, previously unhandled proposal identified during the baseline review.
What this means
The April 2026 comparison document proposes an isolation plan for sick or injured animals, expanded infection-control and bite-reporting procedures, and separation of home-based animal-care areas from primary living spaces. It also addresses overnight enclosures and facility sanitation. The equipment-cleaning sink proposal applies to new businesses and remodels while allowing existing approved setups to continue. Grooming, boarding, and daycare operators should compare the draft with their current permit requirements; these are King County proposals, not statewide Washington mandates.
